Probably my favourite of theirs. Love the energy. Their versions of 'Chains' and 'Baby It's You' are just so likeable.

Solid debut album that showcases who they were as a band in the early days. Several cover songs mixed with Lennon-McCartney originals that are mostly easy-to-listen pop-rock tunes about love. The Lennon-McCartney songs outshine the covers, as they did on With the Beatles. But overall Please Please Me is way better. It's got I Saw Her Standing There...amazing, perhaps the best song they made before the album Help!

A great starting point. "Twist & Shout" is probably my favourite of their cover songs while "I Saw Her Standing There", "Please Please Me", and "Love Me Do" are excellent originals.

Some of their greatest pop songs and some of their worst songs ever recorded.

I used regard this album much higher until I realized song for song, the average is pretty bad.

Highlights:
I Saw Her Standing There & Twist and Shout

Low Low Low: These songs are pretty terrible and likely I should make it my life mission to make sure nobody wastes time listening to them:
There's a place
A taste of honey
Ask me why

Half of it is white-washed R&B and doo-wop, 3 other songs are throwaway filler indistinguishable from #75 on the Billboard chart. That leaves you with 4 solid songs that pick up where Buddy Holly, etc. left off:

I Saw Her Standing There
Do You Want To Know A Secret
Please Please Me
Love Me Do
