As someone who almost exclusively listened to nu metal, emo and goth-lite euro metal in high school this was a huge deal at sixteen. It still sounds okay if certainly derivative and a bit lyrically goofy & lugubirious at times, but Amy Lee had that great unicorn mix of soprano-level range with her voice as well as being incredibly emotive, managing to fit in well even with the fairly generic NIN/Linkin Park/Lacuna Coil-style compositions.
