Everydays

Not one of Stephen Stills most memorable songs. Certainly not a filler track but also not the most ground-breaking on the album.

Nice bit of fuzzy guitar but it’s all a little to simple for my tastes. Doesn’t feel like as much effort went into making this track as some others from the album and it all just sort of fades away in the end.

Look at your youtube tags above. The first one should look like this:

The second one should look like this:

You simply have them backwards. Just look at them before you submit. Use preview first. If it doesn't work, see what you might be missing and try again.

Expecting To Fly

Original written by Neil Young for an expected solo album, this is a beautiful song which starts with the very unusual (for Neil @ this stage in his career) orchestral opening.

No other member of the Springfield appear on the album which points towards, even at this early stage in their evolution, the splits that would eventually become too much for the band to continue.

I think that this track is achingly beautiful.

Bluebird

This is a bit of a “rocker” compared to some of the other tracks on the album and was composed by Stephen Stills. Of all of the songs that he composed with the Springfield, this is my favourite. Great guitar playing from Stills as well as excellent harmonies.

Stills does have a penchant for writing about lost loves, of which this is an excellent example as are tracks like Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, from the debut CS&N self tilted album. The end of the song I find a little strange but that’s a very small quibble.

Hung Upside Down

Starts off a little flat for me but once the lead guitar of Stephen Stills (who also wrote the song, although it sounds like Richie Furay is taking lead vocals) the song really takes off.
Some of Stills best guitar playing on the whole album. Very good track, in parts.

Sad Memory

A song that was recorded by accident after Neil Young heard Richie Furay playing it in the studio and insisted on recording it, which he did with his own guitar playing.

Let’s be honest it’s incredibly sparce but I think that’s what makes the track. Can’t imagine it with a full band playing.

It’s just so mellow and laid back and I love it. Just Furay singing and him and Young playing guitar. It’s gorgeous.

Giving this a spin for the first time currently…. Love a litany of Neil’s work but never delved into anything prior.

It’s good!

Glad that you like it. It’s the best of the buffalo Springfield albums. Some great tracks. It’s grown on me more over the last few years.
