Just saying, Aviary (the last website I was a really active member of) did something like this. They had a Hack Day where people came to graphic design stuff and hang out and meet each other, got corporate sponsors to cover it. I never got to go, but I always imagined it would be wonderful ...

Hour 1: treading eggshells, hoping we don't make an ass of ourselves, desperately grasping for topics in dying conversations
Hour 3: a handful of members are blatantly drunk and drugged up, causing a feeling of distaste among the more sober users due to the overt sexual nature of the crunk members, Jack facefucks an asian in a corner
Hour 5: the more sober members have gone to sleep, the crunk members continue to do actions they will not remember in the morning, purple is passed out at the side of the room in piss-soaked pants, lethalnezzle preaches the virtues of Roc Marciano and Ghostface, Jack is desperately trying to get into the pants of another asian, no one notices someone has died

I've definitely suggested this in the past, but it would have to be by continent or something considering the number of countries the BEA membership covers.
Oh, and an_outlaw would have to wear a mask.
