Listened to X&Y with my dad the other day in the car. Was surprised how cohesive the whole thing is. The only problem with its cohesion is that it makes a lot of the songs lose identities of their own. Of all Coldplay albums this is the hardest for me to identify individual songs, despite knowing all the titles.

The production still impresses me though.

Viva > Parachutes > A Rush of Blood to the Head > X&Y > MX > Ghost Stories > A Head Full of Dreams
It's hard for me to weigh MX and Ghost Stories when the band could've added/removed certain songs that would've made them both miles better.

This album is very misunderstood sometimes, but that doesn't mean I see why it's like that.

It's a pity to see the evolution of Coldplay. One of the few very well known bands I loved. X&Y is still good though generally not as appealing for me as their two previous.

Totally agree... Their last two albums really lost me as someone who used to respect them.

I will say though I'm curious about those that do like them... I have friends that still do and it appears a few at least like Ghost Stories. Idk... I can't really tell the difference between them and any other pop group anymore. (not that pop is terrible, it just isn't my cup of tea, whereas their previous efforts seemed to have some level of intrigue to me).

I will never understand why people like them. They're the definition of flat.
