An interesting list that is not really like anything I have seen here or elsewhere.

There are a few surprises that I knew of from other lists outside this list, most notably Eric Dolphy’s At The Five Spot, Vol. 1, which was on Joe S. Harrington’s Top 100 Albums from 2001 to 2003 — although At The Five Spot received about the shortest review of any album in Harrington’s list. I didn’t realise until I made a thorough check that the vastly better-known Pet Sounds, Trout Mask Replica and Double Nickels on the Dime are the only albums except At The Five Spot common to this chart and Harrington’s, although there are twelve other artists common to this chart and Harrington’s, viz.:
  • Black Flag
  • Tim Buckley
  • The Clash
  • Ornette Coleman
  • John Coltrane
  • The Grateful Dead
  • Thelonious Monk
  • The Mothers Of Invention
  • Nico
  • The Stooges
  • Pharoah Sanders
  • The Who

Apart from those semi-unexpected surprises, the chart is very diverse and un-stereotyped, and there are quite a few albums I myself might want a listen to. I had a mixed reaction to Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides upon trying in on YouTube a few days ago, but I feel I should at least give that recording another try.
