This appears to be some sort of a concept album

Definitely in my top tier for Cave records and one of my favorites in the stacked year of 1994.

This record has a very particular production style and its sound is nearly as straight up hard rock as the Bad Seeds got, while of course maintaining many of their spectacular nuances. Songs like Do You Love Me and Red Right Hand are inimitable Cave, belonging to a genre all their own. The music does an outstanding job of crafting good air for the characters and settings to exist in.

It gets wild in spots, somber in others. I think there are Cave records with a better emphasis on dynamism, and there are Cave records with better pacing. But at it’s highest moments, Let Love In is Nick Cave at his absolute peak of being Nick Cave.

This is such a great write up, well done!

I wouldn't say it's my favourite Cave, I prefer some of his later works, but it is a monumental album. As you've said, if someone asked me to pick one song to represent his style (even though that's impossible), Do You Love Me and Red Right Hand would have been among my first picks.

It does have a strange music, my main problem with it is the Loverman - Jangling Jack sequence which is almost 9 straight minutes of not so great material. I know Loverman gets a lot of love (haha), but it was never among my favourites, and Jangling Jack along with Thirsty Dog, even though both are competenet rockers, is this albums weakest link.

Still, the highs are amazings - tracks 1, 2, 5 and 6 are among his very best. Do You Love Me Pt 2 also comes close.
