Feels like R.E.M. lost something they had in the previous 90s years on this one. Electrolite is still a magnificent song.

And so ended the run of amazing albums and the beginning of their decline for me. It was as if they had been mining a seam of gold then it suddenly run out.

I still like a few tracks.

Electrolite and E-Bow The Letter

But not an album I return to.

Well, this was the first post-Bill-Berry-brain-aneurysm record, so its possible the band members over-rate it because there's some sort of "OMG we survived" factor at work. Also, it sold pretty well.

I actually liked Reveal quite a bit, but I guess I'd agree that the other post-Berry albums were pants.
