There have been a surprising amount of picks from my personal top 50 recently. Not that I'm complaining, of course. _________________ I love all music. It makes you feel like living. Silence is death.

There's many people who can't stand Springsteen's traditional style, but love this album. Does anybody know why? Is this somehow opposed to his other material?

It's incredibly minimalistic-it's just Bruce, his guitar and a harmonica, with very lo-fi production values(I think it was even recorded in a shed in Bruce's yard, in fact). These were actually meant to be the demos for the "real" Nebraska but Bruce and the band agreed that the stripped-down versions sounded better than the ones with all the bells and whistles. The overall tone of the album is also much more cynical and despairing than his other albums. _________________ I love all music. It makes you feel like living. Silence is death.

This is the album where Springsteen finally captured the pulse of working and struggling Americans. So much better than Born In The USA. This album is raw, heartfelt, and deep. His best work.

Not my favorite of his, but it's still really really good. Atlantic City gives me shivers every time.

"Maybe you got a kid,
Maybe you got a pretty wife
But the only thing that I got
Been both'rin' me my whole life"
State Trooper. Atlantic City. Nebraska. Used Cars. Reason To Believe. All recorded on a 4 track.
Nebraska is a superb album.

I like the Boss...i mean after I hated him when I was in my teens. But this is the only album of his that I've ever listened to much. Well I know Born in the USA also, but who doesnt. My copy of the cd has green ink around the edge because at the time it was rumored the ink would make the cd sound better. _________________ New fav's: The Weepies, Art Brut, 311. Old Fav's: Bowie, zepalin, stones, buckcherry, cheap trick, couting crowes. Seen: Black Crowes, Nirvana, Ugly Kid Joe, Pretenders, Phycadelic furs, Ozzy, Thompson Twins, B Adams...regret not seeing G&R.
