EDIT: Okay I don't hate it, but it's boring and I can't really see myself revisiting it much. _________________

Great album but does anyone else hate the high pitched vocals on Big Mouth Strikes Again? It drives me nuts and it keeps reminding me of Miss Piggy from The Muppets.

See my reaction in a recent topic, and my chart, if you want to know how great I think this album is.

Best song in the record. Sublime guitar work. Musical lace.

No!!!! I hate the fade-out and fade back in at the start. Sounds so awful.

I prefer Meat Is Murder, even though this is the one people generally go to in inquiring about the epitome of The Smiths' work. Still, this is a solid collection of songs that falls apart at around "Vicar in a Tutu," and ends poorly on "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others." So, basically what Dingerbell said. Other than that, I thoroughly love, or at least very much like every song on the album. Certainly a deserved classic.
Track picks
1. The Queen Is Dead (Take Me Back To Dear Old Blighty (Medley))
3. I Know It's Over
6. Bigmouth Strikes Again
7. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side

If your idea of great art is a combination of lightweight rock, Lonnie Donegan-skiffle, vaudeville pantomime, 60s Merseybeat and Anthony Newley inspired vocals, then this is for you. Thankfully, we've emerged the other side of the musical dark ages that this album represents. Like the Beatles, The Smiths retreated to a quaint nostalgic vision while the real innovators of the time were pushing things forward.
