I have some swimming badges from when I was a kid, and a few medals from youth rugby tournaments, also last season's players' player AND committee's player trophies. Not sure if relevant but 
To the point, almost everything I've earned in life would have been impossible without help, whether it's from teachers helping you get good grades, coaches helping you improve, teammates, friends and family etc.
That's why most athletes are the first people to thank all the people without which they couldn't have done what they did. Not to take away from the individual achievement just to appreciate the help they've had and needed.
