Great shoegazing tune :

The noisiest, strictly shoegazing bit starts after 2'30 - note down the singer has some sort of "Morrissey-sing-a-like-contest-winner-" sound about him : )
Great guitar part anyway - the guitar player being Harvey Williams, of Field Mice fame, whose solo albums you might want to check out.

Otherwise, I agree with Mr Shankly : early Lush stuff is great. Check out "Superblast!" for example.

(Oh God that intro)

Greatest noisy pop single to my standards (the actual title is "You Made Me Realise").

Since we're talking MBV, this is an amazing piece of music:

Aside from MBV's Loveless, their Glider and Tremolo EP's are brilliant, as are Ride's Nowhere, Smile, and Going Blank Again albums

Agreed. Hands down, my favorite song on that record. Does Jesus and Mary Chain count as shoegaze?

Did the Cocteau Twins start this alternative genre?

Cocteau Twins seemed to have been an influence on the genre. However, logic tells me that the Beatles started the genre.
