I was a pretty big Peppers fan when this came out, although I thought they were past their prime and that Californication was a kind of flash-in-the-pan late career renaissance (if that). But I burned through many tracks on this CD and I honestly think it's my second favourite RHCP album after the venerable BSSM. There are about 16 excellent songs here and another ten or so that really do not deserve to be skipped. I'm sure there are haters, though.

I like some old RHCP in very limited doses. Not this.

Their last great album. Finishes off a truly stunning run of top notch stuff dating back to BSSM.

I know it's said way too much, but in this case it applies... This should have been a single disc. There is way too much filler on this.

Hey, what's blue and yellow and makes more sense on shuffle than it does in order?

I'll give you three guesses.

Even one CD is too much for those stuff. Probably EP would be OK.

I love a lot of it, but it's one of those double albums that don't justify their length. It seems to me they couldn't decide on what material to put in and what to leave out, and they just released all of it. It would definitely work better as a single album, let's say about an hour in length or less.

But yeah, as I said, I do love a lot of it, and songs like Desecration Smile, Especially in Michigan, Wet Sand, Strip My Mind (etc.) strike me as some of their best (2000s at least) stuff

Okay, all jokes aside, this is an album that could've been pretty damn good had it been released as a single album and had they put a little more thought into the album structuring. Highlights include Dani California (obvious), Snow (Hey Oh), Tell Me Baby, Desecration Smile, Hump de Bump, and Storm in a Teacup, among others.
