Zappa had such a ridiculous prodigious knowledge of almost every musical style and form, from Classical to Jazz to Rock to Pop to Psych to Prog to Doo Wop to Garage and Avant-Garde and Modern and Musical Theater, that it's almost too easy to be a detractor who focuses only on a perceived flippancy or shallowness from the perspective of a single camp. I highly recommend you go back to his music, dig deeper, and approach it from many more angles.
That is, like, if ya ain't got anything better to do that day.
