Writer Todd Almond fell in love with the album as a teen and has now written a musical based on it. From Sweet's Facebook page.
Love the album (in my top 10 I think) and knew the songs were very closely related and indirectly were telling a story. I guess this is proof I wasn't just imagining it _________________ <(: @ >

I looked more into it - as I originally interpreted, it's a stage musical, and it's at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California.
Interestingly enough, they have another musical there called "American Idiot" - wonder if that's an interpretation of the Green Day album? _________________ <(: @ >

Yeah, I heard the songs have been altered but bare some resemblance. They too originally said it was going to be 'American Idiot: The Movie' (way back in 2004-2005)
Theater is nice if you're into that sort of thing but imagine films being released about albums. Even ones that have no plot... actually, especially ones without a plot
Imagine the films for Automatic For The People, Nevermind, Moving Pictures, The Kick Inside, I Should Coco, Disintegration etc
With an imagination who knows what could be made from them? Bonus points if the music from the album doesn't appear in the movie

People who do films on music usually can't make us feel the emotions we do as intensly as the music itself. Two great examples are In Utero and Closer: both are basically suicide notes (especially Closer) but the films that present the story behind them (i.e. Last Days and Control) are usually very boring compared to the music. We need some Scorsese action up in that...
