Caught Them Crooked Vultures in Chicago last night. Holy smokes. It was like going to a rock n roll doctoral lecture. Mind blown. Grohl, JPJ, and Homme were literally beating the shit out of people with rock. I would put this up against any bullshit indie noise band I've seen in the last five years in any category.
Any thoughts on these guys? There are like six songs on the album that are like the best rock songs of the last few years. Always looking to dismiss supergroups, diseased critics often wrote off a lot of the songs as "very Zeppelin-esque" as if like Homme and Grohl were paying tribute to Jones. I think they looked into it too much. Josh Homme did a great job with the songs and super fucking cool rock melodies and themes. Critics be damned, these guys fucking rule. Check it out if you haven't.
Interesting. I was rather disappointed with that album, expecting all the hype around it to be somewhat true, but instead found an album that falls completely flat without one single high point. I may have to listen to it again.
