That being said, I've seen user charts with 10 Beatles albums in them that are perfectly legitimate charts, so where does the line get drawn?

Maybe not an exact number but a percentage. New members can only add 40, and it's obvious when a new member has around 8 so Radiohead albums. So maybe the line should be drawn somewhere around 15%.

Great improvements albummaster. I am amazed people think of doing things like this just to game the system.

If there's something that can be exploited, it will be exploited.

Your post was better than mine, anyway. Once sentence verse three to make the same point.

yes, something BEA is learning the hard way!

Regards charts containing all of the same artist, perhaps charts over ten entries containing all of the same artist could be disqualified in the same way that fake year charts are going to be. This will still allow people to flood their lists with their favourite artists, but charts like the Bob Dylan one will no longer count.

These are some other examples of overall charts containing just one artist:

ChartID 299 (20 entries)
ChartID 679 (13 entries)
ChartID 1314 (20 entries)
ChartID 1910 (10 entries)
ChartID 1940 (10 entries)
ChartID 2027 (12 entries)
ChartID 2965 (15 entries)
ChartID 3767 (15 entries)
ChartID 3780 (10 entries)
ChartID 4576 (11 entries)
ChartID 7287 (17 entries)
ChartID 7299 (12 entries)
ChartID 8979 (12 entries)
ChartID 10588 (10 entries)
ChartID 11199 (10 entries)

I haven't been here as long as you all, but my impression would be that (most of) these people aren't trying to exploit the system, but rather just doing their own thing with their charts (and then forgetting about it and leaving the site). That being said if the "Top 40 Greatest Music Albums" is being used for something other than the user's top 40 albums, it probably shouldn't be counted in the rank score.

agree about not using the one-year-ones in the rank, disagree about the one-artist-ones. but then again; what's really the difference? none. we suggest there is something fishy when a girl loves only one singer or only music from 1948 makes her heart go jumping, we won't allow it? so: how many years must be included in an overall-chart or how many artists must a girl prefer? i complained about this last year, though, seeing that too many albums did well in the 2012 chart despite only being in a handful lists. i know albummaster will come up with the sensiest solution here, anywho. forgive my rambling
