this is an album that grows with each listen. one is not enough. I personally like it a lot more than Laughing Stock. It's the openness that mesmerizes me.

Yeah, I imagined it would require more listens, but I just didn't really feel that compelled to put it back on after the first listen Confused

Ah well, I'll probably return some day.

A really outstanding record, particularly the first side: Desire is so dynamic and exciting, Rainbow and Eden are beautiful. I do slightly but surely prefer Laughing Stock to this as well (Laughing Stock would be in my top 4 or 5 records ever). I'm not even sure why I like the successor more than this one, maybe because Laughing Stock was my first Talk Talk album and there's sentimentality attached to it. Or maybe because Laughing Stock has After the Flood on it, which is one of my favorite songs.

And I neglected to mention I Believe in You, which is just as beautiful as the tracks on the first side: the backing "vocal" tracks are gorgeous. Fantastic album, and I love Talk Talk.

Love this album! It's number 49 on my overall chart

This album is a beauty. It has amazing dynamics, from tranquil to savage and back again, from quiet to loud, etc. it has amazing textures. The instrumentation is always spot on. And although at is a slow burner and takes it's time getting to it's climaxes, I never felt bored or distracted from the music. Everything about this album is beautiful, even the more ragged parts are beautiful in their execution and placement.

This album is the evolution of a new decade, and was creating the new genre of rock music - that is exactly what this site is praised.
