Pretty much. As Jack said, I feel that maybe I should just let it be. Maybe one day they'll just start liking it. I don't know.

I wouldn't hold your breath. If they're receptive to SDR and you're receptive to MCR, that seems like a good place to start. If you consistently retreat from your friends and don't look for ways to bond with them, you'll find yourself being excluded from things. That can make your teenage years extremely tough, to say the least. My musical tastes were pretty different from my friends in high school, but we found a middle ground with some of the pop alt artists of the '90s. We even went to concerts together.
Remember, everything seems worse on the internet because there are no non-verbal cues. People will overreact to you and your first instinct will be to overreact to them. Yeah, the original post was worded in a way that made you sound a little conceited, but don't let anonymous strangers convince you you're an asshole. They don't know you and should really know better than that.
