God I hate titling intro posts. Anyway I'm Cuddles and like the title says, I want to discover new music and also learn how to discuss it better. I really hate being able to love an album so much but have no way of describing it to my friends.

About me: I'm a friend of SilverWalrus, who basically got me into music in general about a year and a half ago. I have a hard time generalizing my taste down to a few genres but I like to think I'm open to most music out there, although I will admit I had very closeminded taste back when I was younger. Christ, I actually used to think electronic music wasn't real music. What a jackass.

Albums I've really been digging lately are:
Here Comes the Indian - Animal Collective
The Soft Bulletin - Flaming Lips
If You're Feeling Sinister - Belle and Sebastian
Giles Corey - Giles Corey
Holy Money - Swans

I'm working on my chart right now, but the beta version is already posted and I'd appreciate it if you guys would tell me what you think.

I look forward to meeting all of you and hope that I'll actually be able to contribute to the community in the future.

p.s. What's your favorite Swans album?

Anyone can contribute right from the start, and you've already started to by making this post. Welcome! Honestly, I'm a fan of Cop, that doesn't get near enough love. The Seer was also surprisingly good. If you're looking for recs, IDK if you'd know them but you might like Einstürzende Neubauten!

PS I Can Live In Hope actually helps me sleep every night!

The Seer. Some welcome self-irony in this one. First time I had actual fun and smiled while listening to Swans.

Welcome.

Hey! You seem chill. Smile

I haven't listened to any Swans myself but I'd like to.

Soundtracks for the Blind, if only for Helpless Child. XD It's been a while since I've listened to it, but it's always been my favourite...The others haven't done much for me.

Also Cuddles is the best possible name.

I didn't know that birds could make music. I think swan music might be interesting, though.

Which one? I might know you. Also, dig the username. And Here Comes The Indian is indeed the best AC (not counting STGSTV)

Soundtracks, but just barely; Children of God comes very close

Anyway, welcome!

I'm not sure how much you enjoy African folk music, but you might want to try Kenny G's Breathless as an introduction.
