how 'bout the Strokes' Room on Fire: transition from awesomeness to mediocrity (I bet cartoken retorts within 24 hours)
I actually think that Room on Fire is good enought to be a Is This It follow-up, but it sounds the same, so it suffered from being unoriginal. First Impressions is the transition from awesomeness to mediocrity. It certainly shows the decline of The Strokes.

Surprised that nobody has said Strawberry Jam. That was a clear halfway point from the more acoustic-based freak-folk from Sung Tongs and Feels to the heavily (over?)produced psy music that MPP would eventually be.
Maybe it's just me, but that's also the time it seemed to go from being Avey Tare's band to being Panda Bear's band.
