April just saw a landmark reached with BestEverAlbums.com passing 10,000 members! Our members come from over 100 different countries. US, UK & Ireland, Australia and Canada, as you might expect, contribute the most members; but there's also a huge group of members from Spain, Holland, Italy, France, Belgium, Poland, India, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Argentina, New Zealand, Norway & Chile! It's amazing to see such a great variety of people, and it really adds a great dimension to the site.

Progress versus 2011 roadmap
The first phase of the moderation system has been completed and is about to go live. The first phase of the moderation system allows site members to contribute data edits for any bands that have been added to the site. New bands are listed on the newly added bands page, and any bands that are not yet moderated (or have data issues) will be marked with a cross.

To make edits to any band, click through from the band page e.g. Karl Böhm and then click the edit icon next to the band's name at the top of the screen. After clicking through from the band page, you will arrive at the moderation page and will see the data for the band that you editing.

If the band is not locked from editing, some fields are editable, such as the band's name and country. Once you've made your edits, you can click on the save button and your changes will be effected immediately (and will also appear on the latest data changes page.)

The latest data changes page allows any recent edits to be approved or rejected. By default, all changes are approved, but if an inaccurate edit is spotted, it will be rejected and the relevant field will revert to its previous value. All approved changes will earn the user who made the change 1 'mod point', a rejected change will *lose* the user 1 'mod point'. Any mod points that you earn will count towards your score on the user stats page. If too many of your changes are rejected, you will lose the right to make any future edits.

The next phase of work for the moderation system will be to allow albums, artwork and track-listings to be edited by members. The moderation mechanism is also planned to be extended so that users earning over a certain amount of mod points, or with a high edit accuracy, will gain the right to moderate other user's edits.

When the moderation system is completed, it will allow BEA to offer new features such as larger charts. (See the 2011 roadmap for the full list of planned features.)

Other changes this month
Building a new moderation system is obviously taking most of the time up at the moment. However, several smaller changes have been completed alongside the above:
