Just giving him a recommendation for an ambient album that I find easier to "get" on first listen so that perhaps he'll "get" (and possibly even enjoy) A Rainbow in Curved Air. But I suppose you are right. NowhereMan, you should just take everything at your own pace, and try not to feel obligated to listen to everything that might "broaden your horizons", because in the end, it all comes down to personal taste.

I will definitely
Uptake your advice Goodsir, and thanks.

Remember when I was younger going on the annual family
Holidays my dad used to create a mix of songs we all liked for the car journeys there and back. Very varied I might add! Must ask if he still has them somewhere. Some cracking stuff ranging from
Elo to tom Jones.

ABBEY ROAD of course.

Also, Meddle by Pink Floyd. I remember sitting in my car listening to Echoes for the first time and thinking, this is unbelievable!

Other more recent albums that blew me away on first listen were Trouble (Ray Lamontagne), A Rush of Blood to the Head (Coldplay), O by Damien Rice, and Aha Shake Heartbreak by Kings of Leon.
