I was thinking today. What if there was someone who recorded music and never released it? Like never released a single album ever (so not a major artist) and spent their whole life doing other stuff. However they did record the music and just never released it. So they would finish an album and then they can start on another right away because "hey no release party". In 10 years they could record a lot of albums.

In the meantime however they could be famous some other way or just well liked by a lot of people. Eventually they will get really old and pass away. Then when there home is being cleaned up it is found they recorded like over 20 albums. If they honed their craft the songs could be very good and they would be worthwhile. Then they would be all over the internet and may get famous without another person listening to their music in their life time.

I think this idea has a lot of potential because it hasn't been done before. Plus it would be really funny if a politician, sport star or other celebrity not related to music pulled this.

Does anyone follow me here? Do you think this can be pulled off? Think

Basically, you want of one us to sacrifice himself so that his unreleased music could be discovered in 20 years, right?

This basically happened to Nick Drake, although he had signed to Island Records, his records didn't sell at all mainly due to the fact he couldn't adequately promote them.

No at all. Science of the Sea is a great album, but it probably wasn't made in the 70s. Still a good story though.

Ah. That's true. Thanks for clarifying. I have a hard time believing the story myself. It reeks of marketing and posturing. Also, the album sounds like something recorded recently. Nonetheless, it's an awesome album.
