Monkees. Total Monkees.

More specifically, I'm playing their three 1967 albums in order. It'll help fill my 1967 chart, which I've been meaning to fill to 50. If "More of the Monkees" is this good, I can't imagine how good "Jones" is.

he's entirely fantastic. if you haven't already, check out John Coltrane's later period (Ascension being the obvious touchstone, though there are tons of others to which I am equally partial), the Cecil Taylor Unit, Ornette Coleman, Anthony Braxton, Sun Ra and his various Orchestras and Arkestras, Sonny Murray, the European free jazz people like Peter Brotzmann and Han Bennink and the more modern Mohel and side projects....
