Meh. Prefer Infinity, even if it is just shameless Illmatic worship. He's obviously a ridiculously talented guy, but his deliberately controversial, cartoon-y, overcooked and entirely unsubtle storytelling just gets a bit annoying. That's not to say he doesn't stumble across cool ideas or occasionally make songs that I really do enjoy, but over the course of an LP I find his schtick pretty exhausting. Putting one of his albums on my recent hip-hop chart didn't so much as cross my mind, even though I certainly don't hate anything he did up to and including The Eminem Show. Eminem to me is the biggest anomaly in popular music. Just look at this album's lyrics, it's kind of weird to me how he's such an icon with these awful lyrics. I know he's joking and trying to appeal to "edgy" 13 year olds, but soccer moms are right a lot of the time; Em promoting these violent and hateful acts can affect young children and preadolescents to think this is "cool" and contribute to a harmful society. I think him being white is the main reason for him selling more album's than any other rapper. He's great at rapping but his lyrics and production are weak.
