"Classical" is a highly localized supergenre. Taking the above suggestions into account, I think it would also be a good idea to divide nominations and seeding by era and/or region.
I feel like with the huge diversity of music here, I think a competition might not be the best format. I think it'd be better to do a sort of classical music exchange. so what you'd do is have everyone sign up, and they pick something and write a bit about why they think it's noteworthuy. And then everyone is randomly paired off, and everybody responds to whatever they're matched up with with a diifferent classical piece and some words on why they picked it. and each week we do a thread of one pair.
did someone pick something really minimal and you didn't like it? pick the thing that best exemplifies the narrative sense of progression that you hypothetically prefer. Someone picked something contemporary and electronic and you didn't like it? pick something that shows off the richness of the classic acoustic instruments. Etc. I think this could work. But if you all aren't down I'd still be down to throw some things into whatever happens here.
