I loved Pay No Mind, Soul Suckin Jerk. Truckdrivin Neighbors Downstairs (Yellow Sweat) and of course Beercan. All of this was very anticipatory of Odelay, which is slicker and catchier. This album showed genius in the making, for sure.

I am of the opinion that this is Beck's worst album pre-Morning Phase if not worse than that album. The first two tracks are great, but the rest of the album is like Ween if Ween sucked. Quite a lot of these tracks are unlistenable, especially tracks 5-7. I get that the dumb fucking around masquerading as experimentation sounded cool at the time, but it's just awful to listen to now. This is only in BEA's top 1000 because Loser is on it.
