Has anyone mentioned Ray Charles yet?

Anyway, there's a bunch here I love. This record is super overlooked tho

It's Your World by Gil Scott-Heron / Brian Jackson
Live performance of Heron/Jackson at their peak. Likely my 2nd favorite thing GSH was ever involved in (the 1st being the one my chart, but it ain't soul)

We've had threads on this before, but I'm glad soul is never forgotten. Stretching the definition of "soul" and "not compilation" a bit, but considering the time of year it might be worth checking out:

A Christmas Gift For You by Phil Spector

I'm not big into soul unless it's got a bit of funk or jazz etc. so not qualified to offer soul recs, however something worth checking is Alice Clark. Not sure how many have heard it but it's worth hearing for any soul fan

Alice Clark by Alice Clark

And with a touch of funk, this is a fantastic live album

Live by Donny Hathaway
