Progress v 2011 roadmap
The final phase of work for the BEA moderation system has now been completed which has added the ability for members to edit track-listings and submit data corrections for 'locked' items.

If you spot any data issues across the site, you can now submit corrections from the page in which the problem appears. To do so, click on the edit icon next to the title of the band, album, or song. This will take you to the admin page for that item. Within the admin page, you will then see a section for data corrections. First, select a reason for the data correction from the dropdown list of reasons and then enter the correct value for the field that you think is incorrect.

Once your correction has been submitted, it will enter a 'pending' state until the issue has been investigated, whereupon the correction will be accepted or rejected. If the correction is accepted, you will be awarded a mod point and the correction will be made to the database.

You can monitor your corrections either from the admin page for a particular item, or from the latest data changes page.

The moderation system will now begin a 'bedding-in' phase where usage will be monitored and tweaks made where necessary to ensure everything is running smoothly. Once it has bedded in properly and is being utilised by site members, the next item to be delivered from the 2011 roadmap will be bigger charts!

Similar charts
We now show a list of 'similar' charts on each chart page. This feature will almost certainly help you discover other great albums in charts that are similar to your own, or in charts similar to those you already like. The similarity algorithm will be tweaked over time, but currently favours charts of similar sizes containing matching albums and bands. This is an idea that came from the forums.

Ratings graphs
You might notice that we've added graphs to each album, band, track and chart page to show the spread of ratings that an item has received. To view a ratings graph, simply hover on a bar chart icon (next to an item's average rating). The bar chart will quickly show if an average is being skewed by one or two bad ratings and will help explain why an item has earned the rating it has.

Lots of other changes:
  • Deleting an item within your chart should now be a lot faster
  • When you assign a rating, the UI is now far more responsive
  • We now display a user's rating alongside any comments they have made
  • User country flags are now shown on the user stats page (we are quite a diverse bunch!)
  • Many other smaller changes
