Gowi, your position is abundantly clear and requires no further elaboration.

Now that's being even more pedantic. You know the main issue of Breadwoman as per RYM is 1985 and don't pretend because it got reissued as "Breadwoman & Other Tales" it makes it different.

Just saying that RYM, which you stated as your reference for how a release year is defined, seems to consider this a new, separate release. I guess they consider roughly 20 minutes of a additional material pretty significant. But this is a fruitless argument.

I get where he's coming from because this is basically an expanded reissue of an older release. And I think further discussion of what sorts of archival/reissued releases would be allowed for this would be good to clear up in the main ALC thread. But since this thread exists and this album is pretty great I think we should spend the rest of it talking about the album.

Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

I'll be honest, I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but if it is, I apologize. It had seemed to me that most music publications that have reviewed this album considered it to be a 2016 release and so I went with that, my apologies if that was misguided.

I see why from your perspective you did it, but being belittled about my perspective on the last page seems kind of shitty to me which has almost turned me off from ALC right now. With that said, I liked the album but I didn’t really enjoy the ideas expressed too much— worth a listen, hope to like it more on repeats.

Regardless of the year confusion, I found it interesting on the first two listens. There's something simple yet obsessive in her singing that gives it a sort of tribal quality, and I frequently thought of African music while listening to her vocal lines, although I also heard a bit of pre-recording era blues in some tracks, notably in Ee Che, which has probably been my favourite so far.

The lengthy last two tracks are a different story. The screeching and hissing that supposedly imitates sirens singing (I guess), and looped whispers are possibly more complex and vocally adventurous, but somehow less enjoyable for me.

Overall, not a bad choice. I'll definitely get back to it, thanks.

What do you see as the difference between the sonic content and the ideas expressed, and what ideas expressed did you dislike?
