Utterly juvenile and vaguely misanthropic, but who wants to listen to a conventional genius anyway? Best when played at a high school pep rally.

Vampire-Weekend-and-Kendrick-Lamar-listening hipsters will laugh like they're in on the joke, but they're not. Take a day and walk around, watch the nazis run your town. Then go home and check yourself, you think they're singing about someone else? But you're plastic people, too.

This actual quote from 1966 pretty well sums it up:

"These Mothers is crazy. You can tell by their clothes. One guy wears beads and they all smell bad. We were gonna get them for a dance after the basketball game but my best pal warned me you can never tell how many will show up ... sometimes the guy in the fur coat doesn't show up and sometimes he does show up only he brings a big bunch of crazy people with him and they dance all over the place. None of the kids at my school like these Mothers...specially since my teacher told us what the words to their songs meant." Sincerely forever, Suzy Creamcheese, Salt Lake City, Utah

But I should mention his album covers are great. Especially Weasels Ripped My Flesh. And this one's pretty cool too.

Not a fan of this album. Dislike it even.

I quite like other albums of his namely Lumpy Gravy, Hot Rats and Zoot Allures. But I have a hard as hell time at all getting even remotely into this album.
