Interestingly both genres have rather splendid and highly-rated custom charts (ain't that right, Mercury!?), but are rarely discussed on the forums, so there's obviously an interest in both round these parts...

This. I want to hear about the best stuff in any genre. Or sub genre. In fact I want to hear about anything other than alt/classic/indie. Think I've done that to death some years ago. Might be good idea to have a thread to represent a sub genre in 5 albums? Plenty good specialist custom charts on here though, obviously mine are great.
