I love to hear Alison Krauss and Robert Plant sing his song named "Stick With Me".

I don't think many members here have listened to his music, but I just learned that Mundell Lowe passed away yesterday. I've always been fond of his playing, his '56 album Guitar Moods being a prime choice for relaxing on Sunday mornings. He has a handful of great releases from the 50's, but faded out after that. Always worth a listen.

RIP.

Not sure if that means anything to anyone who isn't French but Johnny Hallyday is dead. We have been fearing / waiting for this for like a decade. That guy was pretty much the only remaining French mainstream music super star...

Michael Prophet died yesterday, but sadly I haven't seen much about it. Underappreciated reggae artist, always enjoyed his early 80's output. He had a whole bunch of solid stuff produced by Yabby You, recommend checking him out if you haven't.

Ralph Carney has also died... great saxophonist, shows up a few times on Tom Wait's records, including a couple of tracks on Rain Dogs. If you watch Bojack Horseman, he wrote the theme with Patrick Carney (Black Keys), his nephew. Always dug his style, not exactly jazz not exactly rock, but haven't ever gotten around to hearing his experimental solo work... suppose I should.

RIP

Roswell Rudd, trombonist on excellent recordings from Archie Shepp, Jazz Composer's Orchestra, Steve Lacy, Charlie Haden, Albert Ayler, Cecil Taylor, and himself, died today. He's largely responsible for establishing the way a trombone could sound in American free jazz.

I have an idea of how amazing Murray and Rudd were from New York Eye and Ear Control, but I still really haven't heard enough of their work to really speak to the loss. But I at least have a rough idea from that, and they did seem to be amazing at a very formative time, so these passings do seem like a significant loss. rest in peace.

Ray Thomas. I don't know The Moody Blues, but it sucks one their founding members will miss their HoF induction ceremony.
