I have so many memories attached to this album that I don't know if I'm being objective about it, but I think it may be one of their 3 best easily, and my personal favourite.
When I was a teenager I had no friends that were interested in metal/hard, until one day a guy one year older than me moved with his family to a house across the street. He was a bass player and I played guitar, so we used to plug on his bass amp -my guitar through a hyper metal boss distortion stompbox- and play the Kill 'em all album at full volume on his system while playing over the full album in a single run.
Time flyes so fast... more than 20 years since those times, and the guy still one of my best friends to this day.

I have a lot of love for this album as well. Sometimes it can get tiring as it's a bit samey as the tracklist goes on, but Seek & Destroy, Motorbreath, The Four Horsemen, Phantom Lord are some of my favorite Metallica songs. Of course we can't forget about Pulling Teeth, a legendary moment for Cliff Burton and the bass guitar in rock music in general.
At the Orion Fest 2013 in Detroit, Metallica scheduled themselves on the side stage under a different name, Deehan (As in Dane Deehan from their Through the Never movie). No one had a clue. Dropkick Murphys were playing on mainstage and told the crowd "Metallica is on the side stage playing some old school shit, we understand if you want to go check em out," and we thought he was messing with us. However we saw a mad rush of people heading to the side stage and it was true. Metallica was playing Kill Em All in its entirety. It was a special moment and some of those old songs they seldom ever play sounded phenomenal. Robert and Lars played Anesthesia completely. The first time Metallica had done it since Cliff was alive. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

Good album, not great. Metallica was figuring things out at this point. The Four Horsemen is my favorite track.
Great stories, albumceleste and AAL2014

Loved this album when I first heard it
not quite as much now but it still is one of the better metal albums by a band not named black sabbath
best heavy metal bands:
1- Balck Sabbath
2- Metallica
3- Judas Priest
4- Motorhead
5- Tool
6- Iron Maiden
7- Dio
8- Type O Negative
9- Alice Cooper
10-Slayer

kill 'em all was originally titled "Metal Up your Ass".
It has the first great metallica song "seek and destroy".
also has the amazing instrumental "(anesthesia) pulling teeth" which features
the late cliff burton delivering the greatest metal bass solo ever , for what its worth.
for me, the remainder of the album is about 4 young musicians/teenagers trying to look and sound tough.
Unfortunately, it really doesn't do much.

I think I'm in the minority, in that I prefer Ride the Lightning. But then again, I don't really like Metallica in general.

I also prefer RtL to KeA. I have Lightning as a close second behind Master of Puppets.
