You add albums and artists to BEA's database by adding them to one of your charts. Type in the artist and album name when adding them to your chart, and save your chart. Then they will appear under the home tab where it says "newly added albums" and "newly added artists" where any BEA member can add album covers, track listings, and release dates. That will then help the moderators verify their existence and officially add them to BEA. _________________ on such a winter's day

I want to add an artist that is not currently on the charts, but there is already a different artist with the same name. When I type the name of the artist, there is no option to add them to the chart since there is already an existing one. How do you handle this situation?

If there is more than one artist with the same name, please distinguish them with a unique suffix so that your album is assigned to the correct artist, and the name can then be updated when the artist is moderated to be consistent with the rest of the site. The current guidelines for duplicate name suffixes are as follows (from the admin artist help page):
Quote: | When two or more artists share the same name, please append a suffix in brackets to distinguish them:
1. If the artists with the same name are from different countries, use the two character ISO country code to distinguish them. e.g. (CA)
2. If the artists with the same name are also from the same country, use their active decade to distinguish them. e.g. (70s)
3. If the artists with the same name are from the same country and the same decade, use the genre to distinguish them. e.g. (Jazz)
4. If the artists still cannot be distinguished, then append something short that will enable visitors to know the 'correct' artist from their name without having to drill through to their discography. |
