Kendrick is cool and all, but I feel like he is one of three artists (the other two being Kanye and RTJ) that non hip-hop listeners listen to to feel "woke" and in the know when it comes to hip-hop.

This does not impact his music, I just feel like it's something that could be discussed.

Surprised no one's ranked Damn very high. I totally agree, but I always thought it had its die hard fans. Maybe just release hype.

Haven't heard Section 80, so I'll have to report back. Maybe a good Sunday Morning record?

I really hope no one listens to Kanye to feel woke, that'd be hilarious Laughing

Woke moreso in that the person feels like they are some source of some wealth of information on hip-hop, not just socially

Do it, it's great. I think I was slightly lucky in the fact that it was the first Kendrick album I ever heard... it's not as explosive as his next two project, but it's a fantastic down-to-Earth hip-hop record with unique instrumentals and brilliant storytelling. It's still Kendrick, but it's a different Kendrick. It's Kendrick knowing that he's made it, but he's still got a long way to go. It's definitely not to be overlooked, it'd be in my top 100 hip-hop records without question (and it's leagues ahead of DAMN., which I don't think is a bad record, but unquestionably his least interesting.)

A'ight Section.80 was a very worthwhile listen, would probably need to hear it another time to really judge. Sounded a lot like a less confident and directed good kid, but it's fascinating to hear how such subtle improvements take something or someone from good to great.

Regardless, I can't see myself swaying from this for a long time:

1. TPAB
2. GKMC
3. DAMN.
4. Section.80
5. UU
