Yeah you can change what's in your top 10. Just please do it ASAP before we start the voting for April, so that people know what they're voting on. And if your chart doesn't win the first round of voting, you can change it all you want before we start the voting for May.

I'm just going to throw this out there...I am not in favor of this:

"These should all have at least one album that's not typical fare for a top 10"

I think the idea itself is sound, but you are asking people, if they do submit their overall chart (or decades, or years), to adjust them for your listening project. I don't think that this is fair to the overall chart (yes, I know the effect would be minimal...but the effect would be THERE) for people to make changes to these so that a message board listening game can be made to be more interesting.

I think that the best way to do this would be for those who want to participate to make a separate chart if they want it to be their overall top 10 or decade or year, or anything else...in other words, I believe that only custom charts should be eligible for this. Otherwise, you'll have people removing albums that really are in their top 10's in favor of "cooler" stuff (you've already suggested that they do so). And that skews the overall ratings...even if it is in a minimal way.

I believe that overall, decade and year charts should be honest. Not doctored to make a listening project more interesting.

Can we make it custom charts only? (You can create a new one specifically for the project.)

oh I was under the impression any editing would purely be in the way the chart is presented in the thread and not in the actual chart itself

I think you've misunderstood me a little. No one is asking anyone to change their charts for the purposes of this project. People are free to create a custom chart and use that, but if they're happy with an existing top ten, whether it's from their overall chart or a custom chart, there's no reason to create an additional chart for this project. That just becomes a hoop to jump through.

Also, this is for overall charts and custom charts, not decade or year charts.

Yeah, if we end up skipping that one album from your top ten due to it being difficult to obtain, obviously your chart would stay the same, and we'd just include the #11 album instead. It would be very unreasonable to require a chart change. But if you want to skip certain albums in your top ten out of personal preference, chart rank, etc., making a custom chart and using that would make more sense.

I'd like to participate. "Top 100 Greatest Music Albums" is the chart I'll be drawing from.

I have a vinyl compilation in my Top 10 that I can easily swap with a more common single CD one. Also have two live multi-CD box sets that I'll have to demote (temporarily).

I'd actually prefer it if the Top 10s were posted in the first post of this or a new thread instead of following links to the individual charts. It'd be easier to vote if we could see all the Top 10s in one place.

Looks like we already have ten choices for the April voting, but we can include your chart in the May voting.

That is a good idea. I will post them here so that we can get the lists in order before we start the voting.

By that I mean if you want to take part in the discussion, but don't want to enter your chart in the project. That's what I'm doing.
