I've listened to it 2 1/2 times now and I definitely dig it. It's not as cohesive as I would like it to be, and Anthony's 9/10 is fucking insane, it's not anyway near that levels, but its good. And also, people banging on this for being experimental is hilarious..This may be his least commercial, but there is much more experimental stuff out there.

I know, right? The word experimental gets thrown around so much that it has no meaning anymore. Any music with even the slightest difference from some other record gets called experimental. Just because someone does something different than what they did before does not make it experimental. I know people mean it as a compliment, but it isn't necessarily. It's not as if something being experimental makes it better by definition. There is a shitload more good music that isn't experimental than there is good music that is experimental. In fact most experimental music sucks.

The new colgate white is their most spearmint-al toothpaste yet. its got hella spearmint.

so whats the deal with this one? the one video song didn't seem like that big of a deal, is it the tabla that people are freaking out about? what's going on here beyond the arrangements?

I didn't like Jack White in it might get loud. He seemed pompous. I haven't heard but two of the singles off the album. I do like his guitar playing and some of his lyrics. I liked

There's nothing in this album that I vaguely recognize or sounds vaguely like the human music I am familiar with, so I call it experimental. It is also very creepy.

Isn't this redundant? Smile

Actually, your comparisons make me really want to check it out now.

hehe good point. That album was kind of a good Prince impression. I mentioned it though to show that this is not the first time that a mainly rock guy has got all funky on us.

Yeah well worth checking out. Reminds me most of Funkadelic's Maggot Brain.

Edit: I'm listening again it is so reminding me of Beck again lol I think it is the way he raps and just some of the general silliness. Also, I'm getting a little R. Kelly (I think!) and a bit of Herbie Hanckock's Future Shock. This album is really fun.
