I found it to be a pretty weak year honestly, especially when compared to 2015 and 2016.

The Saturation trilogy, DAMN, and FlowerBoy basically stole the show.

Agree that it was a weak year compared to 2015 and 2016. Still, I found a lot to enjoy. Since I finally caved and started streaming music this year, I ended up listening to more albums than I have for any other year. That number is 127 and counting, including EPs.

I'm reasonably happy with my year chart so far:

This is true.

2017 was the first time I purposely listened to like 200 albums from one year all the way through, multiple times. I really enjoyed it, but really came away with probably 70 or so actual good albums I'd still want to listen to.

The reason I agree, is there's so much music I've loved over the years and I have no idea how many of those 70 albums will fade with time.

I enjoyed DAMN, Saturation, and Flower Boy like everyone else.

A Crow Looked At Me is one of the most enigmatic listens ever for me. The air was thick as I took that album in.

I'm a big fan of Foo Fighters as it is, but I was honestly very impressed with the direction they took with Concrete & Gold even if I'm not in love with every thing on the album. Almost the same with Mastodon's Emperor of Sand.

I discovered the self titled album from a band named Taiga Woods from Norway that I really enjoy as well. I think I'm the only one to rate it on here so far. If you're into bands like Mastodon or Pallbearer or early QotSA you may enjoy this one, check it out!

I think my issue with my impressions of 2017 is more on my part then it is on the year itself. Every year produces great content, it’s just about finding what you like inbetween the hype machine, contemporary hits, and everything else. I think I focused the most on music in 2014, but I’ve been really trying to revisit my mindset back during that period lately and recapture the same kind of motivation.
