Does animation count? Because the train scene from Spirited Away is amazing. Also scenes like the candle walk from Tarkovsky's Nostaghia, the final speech from The Great Dictator, The last scene between Spock and Kirk in Star Trek 2, The reveal in Vertigo, the chestburster scene from Alien. The list goes on for quite a while

Animation? Sure, why not? The opening montage of Up comes to mind despite the rest of the movie sucking. And yeah the list goes on and on which is why this kind of a silly thread because there are far too many to name. But hey, if you're really into movies, check out the Westerns poll that's currently running:

I wouldn't know how to decide which is the actual best movie scene of all time, but I could tell you the ones that worked most effectively on me. The scenes near the end of The Wizard of Oz in which Dorothy first looks into the crystal ball and sees her home and relatives, and then as she cries as The Hourglass is running out of sand and she grows ever more desperate and upset. And actually just the whole scene at The Witches Castle. Everything about it. The castle itself, the soldiers, the flying monkeys, and of course the witch herself. Just everything about it worked so effectively on me. And still does.

^^^ Not to be a nitpicker, but that crystal ball scene is at the beginning of the film, not near the end.

God bless you always!!!

It's a different one. The one at the beginning is the crystal ball of the fortune teller guy. And the one at the end is the crystal ball of the wicked witch.
