There was only one album left to listen to which was part of the top chart of 1982 but within the overall BEA top 2500:
- Album - Generic Flipper by Flipper (nr 41 in the overall BEA top chart of 1982): I think I've heard this album before when I was much younger but nothing prepared me for the impact this album made on my. This is punk but in the way Black Sabbath was metal: very slowly played but angry as hell which really makes it punk and they're also not afraid to play long songs. Boy, did I love this album and every track's a winner but standouts are Shed No Tears, (I Saw You) Shine and of course Sex Bomb.

- Love by Flipper: And I liked the first Flipper album so much I looked out for more of their albums and then I discovered that that they split up and restarted the band twice and the last album was issued in 2009 and Krist Nosovelic was the bass player. So I just had to listen to it but didn't find it on Apple Music so had to revert to Youtube and I didn't regret it. This new album sounded just as angry as their first and the songs were still very inspired but the difference was the bass playing of Krist Nosovelic and I can just advice everyone who liked Flipper in the past to just find out about this one. It's very different but the basic feel remains the same. You won't regret it !!!!!!

And then I noticed that many many albums of 1982 I was still interested to look into were situated just outside the overall top 2500 so I'm going to go on for a while:
- Music For A New Society by John Cale (nr 42): I have the feeling that this is one of the best John Cale albums. It has a few absolute highlights: Close Watch and especially Chinese Envoy which is one of my favorite tracks ever. Also the rest of the album is good.
- Tug Of War by Paul McCartney (nr 43): I like this album: although his duet with Stevie Wonder on Ebony and Every is corny (but What's That You're Doing is good) there are many highlights to be found here: the title track, Take It Away and especially the John Lennon hommage Here Today. This is a keeper.
- Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing by Discharge (nr 46): and if it's not enough here is another punk/hardcore album of this year I liked very much but now played at break neck speed with all short tracks. This must be about the perfect quintessential hardcore album with just highlight after highlight. A must for my top charts.
- The Blue Mask by Lou Reed (nr 47): this is a very electric but very personal album by Lou Reed which I like very much. The title song, Waves Of Fear, etc are just highlight after highlight.

And I'll certainly go on for a while with 1982.

And this is my final contribution for this better than expected year 1982. And still a bit of albums outside the top 2500:
- A Kiss In The Dreamhouse by Siouxsie And The Banshees (nr 52 on the overall top chart of 1982): not their best album but still a good one with especially Cascade still in the old style and Painted Bird moving away from that style
- Forever Now by The Psychedelic Furs (nr 73): highlights are the title track, Love My Way, Goodbye, President Gas, etc so enough to make this a worthwile album.
- The Blurred Crusade by The Church (nr 81): maybe their most consistent album and overall very good.

And this was an opportunity to listen to that other Church album of the eighties I hadn't yet listened to (from 1986):
- Heyday by The Church: a bit in the same league as The Blue Crusade: no real highlights (maybe except for Disenchanted) but consistently good.

And then the two last albums for 1982 I listened to:
- Strawberries by The Damned (nr 85): maybe except for the first track this is of course no punk anymore but it's a fantastic album full with highlights like Bed Time For Bonzo.
- A Flock Of Seagulls by A Flock Of Seagulls (nr 124): and to end this year hereby a bit of a guilty pleasure: I Ran is not the only good track on it...

So as I said in short a better than expected year taking into account that this year spawned a bit of the worst eighties shit but nevertheless I started out this listening session with 17 top albums and ended it with 40 which is not bad at all. I discovered some real classics like Imperial Bedroom, Generic album from Flipper and Discharge. This is really a year where punk went to some of the worst and some of the best hardcore with ex also Hüsker Dü which would later become much more and better than that.

So this is the final list with at the start the overall BEA rank and after that the BEA year rank and my personal rank before and after this listening session:
BEA Rank Title By Band BEA YearRank - My Rank before To My Rank after
668 Love Over Gold by Dire Straits 9 - 1 To 1

This is my first real entry for albums of 1987 I listened to:
- Sign 'O' The Times by Prince (nr 4 on the overall BEA top chart of 1987): this is about the best Prince album to me and there's one track which has a great role here: I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man: a great song and an even greater guitar solo: I have always loved this one). The rest of the album is good as well with highlights like The Cross and If I Was Your Girlfriend.
- Bad by Michael Jackson (nr 7): Thriller was not bad but Bad is worse.
- Hysteria by Def Leppard (nr 9): talking about bad this album to me is hysterically bad: it succeeds to push all the hardrock clichés in one album with not even a hint of a good or original song. Sorry maybe I'm biased and I even saw them live once but that's how I feel about it.
- Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me by The Cure (nr 11): and I was presently surprised by this album (I'm mainly a fan of the early cure): it is filled with great hits but also the other tracks are good.
- Music For The Masses by Depeche Mode (nr 13): I was especially pleased by one of the lesser known tracks on this album, Little 15, but in general it was not really my taste: maybe a bit too much of the same trick in most of the tracks.
- Paid In Full by Eric B. & Rakim (nr 15): not my thing
- Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain (nr 16): I own most of the other albums by this band but not this second very good one. I like and endorse the comment that the songs are written in the same vein as those on Psychocandy except for the buzzsaw guitars. A really good album.
- Tunnel Of Love by Bruce Springsteen (nr 18 ): overall a good Springsteen album with Brilliant Disguise as the brilliant top song.
- Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun by Dead Can Dance (nr 21): although I sometimes like the general atmosphere of their albums I didn't really like this one.
- Faith by George Michael (nr 22): GM at his poppiest and not my thing at all
- ...Nothing Like The Sun by Sting (nr 23): it is impossible to dislike the songs on this album but it is however a bit unequal in quality. But the highlights, Englishman in NY, Fragile and the surprisingly good cover of Little Wing makes me tilt to including this album in my personal top chart
- Secrets Of The Beehive by David Sylvian (nr 25): I like some of the David Sylvian albums this one was not completely my thing: I liked Orpheus and the beautiful orchestration of Let The Happiness In but overall not for my personal top chart.

The next album to listen to is The Perfect Prescription by Spacemen 3.

and other albums of 1987:
- The Perfect Prescription by Spacemen 3 (nr 26 on the overall BEA top chart of 1987): this is certainly a weird and druggy album and finally a perfect marriage between Velvet Underground and Yo La Tengo which I like both so I like this one as well. My listening experience was a bit weird because the album itself is not available on Apple Music so I had to revert to a mix between Youtube and the even weirder Forged Prescriptions. To me the drugged atmosphere doesn't stand in the way of very good music overall.
- Songs About Fucking by Big Black (nr 28 ): I like Atomizer but not this follow-up album: many of the tracks could have been bomb shells if the production of the album was better but many of them are very noisy but sound very underwhelming at the same time. I like their cover of The Model by Kraftwerk though.
- Clutching At Straws by Marillion (nr 29): Fish and the album in general sound a bit as Peter Gabriel's Genesis but that doesn't do it any good. I completely don't like that swollen sound and just plain bad songs.

The next album to listen to is Children Of God by Swans.

More albums of 1987:
- Children Of God by Swans (nr 30 of the overall top BEA chart of 1987): Swans have some good albums but this isn't one of them: a bit too over-indulgent and over-long for me
- Actually by Pet Shop Boys (nr 31): I especially like It's a sin here but apart for some other fairly good tracks there's a lot of filler here so a no as an album
- Franks Wild Years by Tom Waits (nr 32): a bit too bar-roomy to be actually a good Tom Waits album
- Whitesnake by Whitesnake (nr 37): this is the typical 80's hardrock album I don't like: just not enough good songs
-Cloud Nine by George Harrison (nr 39): I can follow the people who think the general sound of this albums is dated because it is. But the majority of the songs is just so good that bad production just can 't kill them. Examples are of course When We Was Fab and Got My Mind Set On You but also This Is Love and Fish On The Sand: so in all a good one
- Introducing The Hardline According To T...ent D'arby (nr 40): full of hits but I already didn't like it in the eighties and now it sounds a bit dated on top of that
- Electric by The Cult (nr 42): this is a very nice Cult album. Of course there's Lil' Devil and Love Removal Machine but I also really liked Bad Fun. People (ex Allmusic) are dismissing their version of Born To Be Wild but I'm certain that if the Steppenwolf original didn't exist, a lot of people would like it. They really made it their own and I like it. A good Cult album!

The next album to listen to of this year is Among The Living by Anthrax and in fact I'm looking forward to listen to it because I don't know it at all (poor pitiful me). I hope I won't be disappointed.

My last post was a week ago but I did listen to:
- Among The Living by Anthrax (nr 41 on the overall top chart of 1987): and boy I loved this even more than I thought would: just the perfect mix between hardcore punk and speedmetal. In some ways they sound very much alike to Metallica but they definitely have their own sound and the riffing is just incredible. A great discovery. I wasn't very familiar with the band uptil now and certainly have to find out more albums of theirs.
- Surfing With The Alien by Joe Satriani (nr 43): I wasn't a fan of him and after listening to this one I'm still not one: just a guitar wanker and this comes from somebody who loves electric guitars.
This was the end if I would be able to stop at the overall top 2500 but I couldn't help myself listening to just one album just outside the top 2500:
- The Lonesome Jubilee by John Cougar Mellencamp (nr 44): Paper & Fire is one of his best but I didn't really like the rest of the album
And there's a few more (Bring The Family is certainly one of those) but I keep that for when I'm going through some of the albums I still should listen to from the eighties.

This is my top chart of 1987 as of this moment with at the start the BEA overall rank and after that the BEA year rank and my personal year rank before and after this listening session:
BEA Rank Title By Band BEA YearRank - My Rank before To My Rank after
563 Substance By New Order 12 - 1 To 1
548 Sister By Sonic Youth 10 - 2 To 2
3887 Calenture By The Triffids 59 - 3 To 3
905 Diesel And Dust By Midnight Oil 17 - 4 To 4
334 You're Living All Over Me By Dinosaur Jr. 5 - 5 To 5
2645 George Best By The Wedding Present 46 - 6 To 6
1853 Warehouse: Songs And Stories By Hüsker Dü 35 - 7 To 7
375 Document By R.E.M. 6 - 8 To 8
1345 The Lion And The Cobra By Sinéad O'Connor 27 - 9 To 9
2360 Among The Living By Anthrax 42 - To listen To 10
16897 Moonhead By Thin White Rope 237 - 10 To 11
26441 New Wave Hot Dogs By Yo La Tengo 379 - 11 To 12
6402 Daddy's Highway By The Bats 87 - 12 To 13
69 Appetite For Destruction By Guns N' Roses 2 - 13 To 14
40133 Juvenilia By The Verlaines 563 - 14 To 15
2357 Electric By The Cult 41 - To listen To 16
884 Darklands By The Jesus And Mary Chain 16 - To listen To 17
15528 Dead Letter Office By R.E.M. 209 - 15 To 18
245 Strangeways, Here We Come By The Smiths 3 - 16 To 19
1820 Floodland By The Sisters Of Mercy 34 - 17 To 20
1175 The Perfect Prescription By Spacemen 3 26 - To listen To 21
6364 Sentimental Hygiene By Warren Zevon 86 - 18 To 22
559 Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me By The Cure 11 - To listen To 23
23621 Life By Neil Young And Crazy Horse 340 - 19 To 24
2048 Cloud Nine By George Harrison 39 - To listen To 25
6326 Tallulah By The Go-Betweens 84 - 20 To 26
57820 Spiiting Out Miracles By The Blue Aeroplanes 769 - 21 To 27
956 Tunnel Of Love By Bruce Springsteen 18 - To listen To 28
993 Pleased To Meet Me By The Replacements 20 - 22 To 29
34 The Joshua Tree By U2 1 - 23 To 30
1786 Solitude Standing By Suzanne Vega 33 - 24 To 31
249 Sign 'O' The Times By Prince 4 - To listen To 32
1116 ...Nothing Like The Sun By Sting 23 - To listen To 33
773 Kick By INXS 14 - 25 To 34
1971 A Momentary Lapse Of Reason By Pink Floyd 38 - 26 To 35
1123 Tango In The Night By Fleetwood Mac 24 - 27 To 36

The first album, Substance, is one of the exceptions where I took a compilation album to be the best album by the band but to me this one just features the best versions of tracks on this great album.

As I now finished going through all the albums of the eighties in the overall BEA top 2500 I notice that some more albums have creeped into that top 2500 in the meantime so I already listened to a few of those:
- It's My Life by Talk Talk (1984 album and ranked 2063th on the overall BEA top chart): This is the album which brought them fame but their best albums were to follow. Apart from the title song this is a fairly plain album.
- They Might Be Giants by They Might Be Giants (1986 album and ranked 2297 overall): their first album and where in their records after this they succeeded in making advantage of their very innocent sounding music, they were not able to do this here.
- Sonic Temple by The Cult (1989 album and ranked 2333 overall): in the post before this I listened to one of their best albums, this must be one of their worst: very bland metal. The best track here is a slow: Edie (Ciao Baby).

The next album to listen to is Rebel Yell by Billy Idol.

I had already listened to Rebel Yell before so here are the other eighties albums (just outside the overall BEA top 2500) I listened to:
- London 0 Hull 4 by The Housemartins (1986 album and nr 2539 overall): based on Happy Hour I thought I would like this album more but this is the only highlight so finally not one to put in my 1986 list.
- Crimes Of Passion by Pat Benatar (1980 album and nr 2547overall): this album is just a bit too FM and dated for me; there is no highlight as on her previous album, maybe except for Wuthering Heights which is not a bad cover strangely enough because you would think that this song is beyond covering.
- Women And Children First by Van Halen (1980 album and nr 2563 overall): Van Halen's best albums still are the ones with David Lee Roth as a singer to me: and this album has DLR. This one is maybe not as good as the first two but songs like And The Cradle Will Rock and Everybody Wants Some make the album. A good one.
- Grotesque (After The Gramme) by The Fall (1980 album and nr 2568 overall): not a bad album but it didn't convince me completely: the best track is New Face In hell
- Bring The Family by John Hiatt (a 1987 album and nr 2626 overall): John Hiatt songs are never bad but a lot of his songs are also just ok. But on this album there is one of my favorite tracks ever: Have A Little Faith In Me. This track alone forces me to include this album in my 1987 top chart. But like I said: the other tracks are ok as well

Just gonna listen to some more eighties album before I make my final eighties round-up.

In this eighties round-up I only listened to one more album:
- Mob Rules by Black Sabbath (a 1981 album and ranked 2627 overall): because of the Dio involvement still a good BS album.

And with this I have covered every year of the 1980's so time to wrap up this decade. Overall it's viewed as one of the worst decades in music ever but a decade which has the finest albums of Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, Metallica, Talking Heads, Dire Straits, R.E.M., Triffids, Lloyd Cole, Iron Maiden, The Screaming Trees, Joy Division and New Order, The Smiths, and so on and so on, can't be a bad decade.

You can check out my final eighties top chart here:
Top 100 Music Albums of the 1980s by dihansse

Time to move on to the nineties and starting with the first year I haven't covered yet: 1992.

And I have already listened to the first album:
- Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine (nr 2 on the overall BEA year rank of 1992): this album is not my cup of tea and in the only track fairly like is Bullet In The Head because of its energy.

The next album of 1992 to listen to is Selected Ambient Works 1985-1992 by Aphex Twin.
