How about a one year run... King Gizzard anyone?
Yup I can second that. Some of the best music of the decade released in 2017. There's Dylan's 1966 run that changed popular music, Mingus did similar thing in 1963 (The Black Saint, Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus, Mingus Plays Piano) and some other legendary artists have done the same. There are also guys like Buckethead who have tons of (pretty good) albums in the same year, but I'd still go with King Gizzard for a single year contest.

I think who's next is way overrated...It has those two killer tracks but it's almost the definition of dad rock.

1. You say dad rock as if that's a bad thing.
2. What two killer tracks? Because there were 5 or 6 last time I checked.

Baba and Fooled. Behind blues eyes is really good too and I'm fond of bargain. Depends what you class as dadrock I suppose. I don't hate it but for me the good stuff on here is way better than at least half of it. That shouldn't be the case of an album that is an full on classic. There's probably 3 killer tracks Wink

I also have issues with The Who... the miss the bar sometimes. Killer singles, boring albums (for me).

To me, The Who is an absolutely classic album band; one that really got me out of 45s and in to LPs. Who's Next is quite possible the best example of this. To a lesser extent, The Who by Numbers, Who Are You, and even the oft maligned Face Dances (although Moonie is definitely missed on that last one).

You're just proving him right, Chief. Fell right into that bit of deviousness.

For me, it's got to be the Pixies.

Surfer Rosa in 1988

Doolittle in 1989

Bossanova in 1990
