Is a rather strange chart and unlike anything I have ever seen before.
Mostly of highly contemporary albums which I have never heard, but what is much more striking and interesting is that amongst the pre-1990 albums there is absolutely nothing from the typical critic’s genres of 1960s psychedelia, 1970s punk, and 1980s post-punk and indie rock. On one level, I see that as something of a recommendation.

I agree that it's an awesome chart, but how is it chart of the day exactly once every year, always in the first six months? Are the selections truly random every time or is there a rotation similar to album of the day? _________________ Add me on RYM

Yeah, I have noticed that too since I record the times it is chart of the day. I see some other charts frequently, too. _________________ ...and for dessert!

I honestly think it's because of the "must have been edited in the past X days" timer. I was COTD once a year as well until I stopped frequenting the site. The lottery is only going to essentially pick charts that are regularly updated and when you combine that with the other requirements (50 album minimum, number of albums must be 50/60/70/80/90/100, score must be 80 or higher etc.) the field of charts from which COTD can be picked is probably only a few hundred at most.

Very good point, because I do frequently update my chart. I'm pretty anal about the rankings and accuracy since I show this list off to my classmates who ask for it. _________________ ...and for dessert!
