Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) by Brian Eno
Well that was pretty fantastic. I had listened to the albums this was sandwiched between and liked Another Green World better, but this is a solid 83. I love the subtleties and "oblique strategies" you pick up in his own music. Dude creates a whole new world that I love, but alas, I struggle with the songwriting/performance just a tinge, so it's not a 85 or even a strong 90 like I want it to be.

2. Bay, few good listens here, but I guess I'll go with Moondance, his second best.

California by Mr. Bungle

Yeah good choice Seth. This is more my style than the others you nearly chose. Although I am always prepared to give anything a try. I really liked this weird and wonderful fascinating listen that defies genre definition. I think I prefer the self titled album but it was over 25 years ago that I listened to that and I don't fully trust my memory. Either way I think I really like everything Mike Patton does. 8/10, and I place it 11/36 in my 1999 chart.

Seth try Glenn Branca. I've been meaning to check it out myself for a long time now as he is apparently an influence on a few bands I get into, like Sonic Youth, Swans etc.

The Ascension by Glenn Branca
I liked the part where it was dissonant. hehe... just kidding, totally makes sense. I didn't know this but I guess Thurston played in his "orchestra". So not just a distant influence. Anyway, I totally can see that, and really liked how it did blossom at times. Light Field was fantastic. Intriguing listen for sure. Thanks for the pick! 85-90

2. I suppose I have to give you OutKast, as that clearly would be my pick from the bunch (artist-wise).

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik by OutKast

I enjoyed this album. A pleasant, fun, funky, Southern hip hop album that shows some of the potential of what Outkast later achieved. It doesn't have the highs of Speakerboxx/Love Below and Stankonia (the only other albums of theirs I've heard), but it doesn't really have any of the lows that those albums have for me either. 7.5/10 and 34/49 in my 1994 chart.

Seth try White Pony.

1.

Moondance by Van Morrison

This is really good. Serious contender with Astral Weeks for my favorite album of his. There is some strong songwriting and a lot of beautiful instrumentals. 3.5/5.

Crazy Like A Foxxx by Bumpy Knuckles

This album was hard to find a decent version of, convoluted in its organization, and over 2 hours long (if I wanted to listen to both versions of the album), so it took me awhile to want to listen to it. It's great, but if you want to know anything about it, then just read the reviews on RYM.

https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album...e-a-foxxx/

Also, the 2pac cut is awesome.

1.

White Pony by Deftones
I really dig the tonal aesthetic of this band. It's got that goth vibe I like from The Cure and a heaviness I love from Thrice's later work. Having said that I feel like the music and lyrics are really weak, and so I have to give it a 75. I just wish it didn't sound dumb to me.

Love Deluxe by Sade

Smooth, sultry, soulful stuff. If that is your thing I can see this as being a great album for you. I can see the quality to it. It's not my thing however, but because of the quality, the great voice, and the trip hop influence for the first few songs of the album, I give it a 7.5/10 and 21/29 for 1992.

I don't think you'll get into it but that probably applies to a lot of your list atm...although there are a couple of good ones coming up soon I can see Smile...but listen to The Death Grips Seth. It's a double album, and the second part, Jenny Death, is actually quite good I think.

After being at my new job for training and a hopeful continuation of the new job, I'm back.
Now lets talk about this album

(1)

For Baystate, I don't think this is a perfect album. I would say there are some songs and some qualities of the record that feels like an acquired taste. It reminds me of the Avey Tare album from 2000. Hell, I felt this would be a chore since these songs felt somewhat draining, kinda like my first reaction of Tool's 2001 album. However, after the beat change on track 5 the quality of this album go up. There are several tracks that I love like Radio Gra or Off This Century. I kinda want to keep the surprises of this album a secret for newcomers. But after that hurdle, the album is quite great. There are also parts of the songs I'm not that crazy about that are real great like the intro of Treachery. So grade wise: 85 but I do see this going up.

(2)

Oh Pash, I'm glad you picked my list, hell being at work I never got to notice since my work shifts have been really long. But for the album and this is a hard pick......
Uhhhhhh
Fuck it, listen to Caracal. Might not be your thing but I love it. Also happy with the thoughts on Love Deluxe. Honestly that album is an album that grows on you.

Fear Itself by Casual

Surprised that I hadn't heard of this one before, as I love Del and Hieroglyphics. Casual is a member of Hieroglyphics, and this album is great example of the smooth sound they cultivated up there in Oakland. I'm a fan.

Endless Summer is the best of those, Luigii.
