I have at least twice as many albums in my collection from the USA than the UK.

I'd agree in general that the UK's output has waned, relatively speaking, in the last 20 years or so.

That said, there are so many UK artists I love, including Belle & Sebastian, Boards of Canada, Brian Eno, Broadcast, Cocteau Twins, Saint Etienne, Slowdive, Stereolab.

I'm sure someone is bound to point out that we have the likes of the Beatles, Bowie and Radiohead. Just don't mention Britpop.

i'll take what i can get.

as for the discussion, i think that the UK wins the 80s and 90s for me hands down based on my decades charts. but for the rest of it (50s, 60s, 70s, 00s, 10s), it's definitely america. that makes it 50-20 in favor of USA.

Together these two countries make up 80% of my 2613 scored albums with the UK 31% and the USA 49% so the USA clearly wins but that doesn't really do justice to how much I appreciate music from the British Isles.
