Dafuq did I just watch. And thrash Gizzard seems to be a real thing, and it sounds pretty amazing.

Brad Mehldau - Finding Gabriel

Mehldau's newest is a genre... and mind... bending wonder.

It's contemporary jazz, avant garde jazz, and jazz fusion all rolled into one, along with touches of spoken word, new age, electronic, and minimalism. Sometimes it moves from one to the other as it moves from song to song, other times, it fuses these all at once. A great listen and his most unique outing to date.

Spaces by Yosi Horikawa

i'm a huge fan of this guy's work and 'til today, i thought he was pretty famous, but i guess he's not. he's good friends with both diasuke tanabe and shigeto and recently announced he is started his own label with tanabe. i think he's pretty popular on bandcamp... "featured artist" level anyway, since i'm pretty sure that's where i first heard his debut record. but that's not really all that relevant. i'm mostly just surprised he's not a household name.

the guy does a lot of ambient, field recording stuff, but he remixes everything into danceable rhythms. a lot of depth to the sound. a lot of textures. a lot of nuance. one of my favorite artists to test new headphones on.

ALSO out today is Kishi Bashi's new album, which i perhaps found pretty disappointing, but you might be pretty into it so don't let me get you down.
