This post is actually pretty nice and helpful in terms of what mood I'm in. Let's say, if I'm listening to Blonde On Blonde, and I wanna watch something with the same conceptual, emotional or stylistic expression, then here's some examples. Oh... and some new movies to get into as well. Thanks AH!

Btw Psycho and Suicide are like a quintessential match-up.

Next up: If you haven't already, could it be possible at some point to do a Greatest Paintings - Corresponding Albums/Songs/Movies/etc.?

You're welcome!

Yep, Psycho and Suicide is a pretty close one! (Taxi Driver possibly closer)

The most similar of all are probably...

1. Stalker - Andrei Tarkovsky (1979)
Laughing Stock - Talk Talk (1991) / 5 + 5 + 5 = 15/15

2. Persona - Ingmar Bergman (1966)
Improvisie - Paul Bley (1971) / 4.5 + 5 + 5 = 14.5/15

3. Citizen Kane - Orson Welles (1941)
Symphony No. 15 in A Major - Dmitri Shostakovich (1971) / 4.5 + 5 + 5 = 14.5/15

4. The Sacrifice - Andrei Tarkovsky (1986)
Spirit of Eden - Talk Talk (1988) / 4.5 + 4.5 + 5 = 14/15

5. Blow Up - Michelangelo Antonioni (1966)
Roxy Music - Roxy Music (1972) / 4.5 + 4.5 + 5 = 14/15

6. Greed - Erich Von Stroheim (1924)
Beggar's Banquet - Rolling Stones (1968) / 4.5 + 5 + 4.5 = 14/15
Rain Dogs - Tom Waits (1985) / 4.5 + 4 + 5 = 13.5/15

7. The Deer Hunter - Michael Cimino (1978)
The River - Bruce Springsteen (1980) / 5 + 4.5 + 4 = 13.5/15

8. L'Age D'Or - Luis Bunuel (1930)
Doolittle - Pixies (1989) / 4.5 + 4 + 5 = 13.5/15

9. The Red Shoes - Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger (1948)
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac / 4.5 + 4 + 5 = 13.5/15

10. Metropolis - Fritz Lang (1927) ["The Complete Metropolis", 147 minutes]
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel (1998) / 4 + 4.5 + 5 = 13.5/15

___________

Not sure about the Paintings/Corresponding list... I've considered adding some to this list but Im not sure if Paintings could hold its own list as few artists still do larger works (which are more comparable to "albums" or "films" especially when relating to #2 of the criteria). Most of my current 6.8+ painting selections are more comparable to Songs/Tracks/Movements so maybe that is a list idea. While the larger scale works (such as Michelangelo and Tubke) would be more comparable to Classical Symphonies or large Vocal/Choral/Opera works, but these are pretty much a lost Art now. Modern Art has its place but in some ways has suppressed any more 8.8+ level masterpieces (at least as far as I can tell) from happening in visual art.

I can't say much as this idea is pretty complex and I just found out about this. The only thing that comes to mind is that "The Underground" and "Parable of Arable Land" might be the best introduction to this idea!

I'd say Metropolis should pair with something more futuristic and apocalyptic like Irrlicht.

2001 is a good choice. I would have paired that with something like Structures from Silence.

Thats a good one! I will think with that next time I revisit Structures from Silence. In the meantime I will put it on the other users section and could very well add to the main list later if it scores 10/15 or better upon revisit.
