Definitely agree with you about dates being difficult to track down the further you back in time (a problem already for some newer albums). If a date/year can't be found, then the album can be flagged to stop nagging for it. The site missed out recently on the Abbey Road 50th anniversary, so we could get some quick wins by opening things up a bit more down the line by having some bigger anniversaries than we have right now (could also release batches for editing based on overall rank instead of doing it by year).

I'd like to help make a real dent in these, but the queue is usually mostly full of new releases with incomplete info. Is there any way to add a larger number of releases with missing release dates to it?

The issue here is keeping the unmoderated album queue below approx 200 albums (a bigger queue than this tends to be a bit overwhelming, particularly as the number of users doing most of the edits is fairly low). Albums with missing release dates are released in batches, several times a day, depending on the size of the existing queue (if the queue is short, more albums are flagged for moderation up to a maximum of ~60).

Understood. However, for artists, it's possible to see up to 1000 with unknown membership, even though the vast majority are not flagged for moderation. Would that be possible for albums with invalid release dates?

Not urgent by any means, but are there any albums with impossible release dates (February 30, February 31, etc.)?

And either way, would it be possible to remove impossible dates from the dropdown?

Impossible dates don't exist in the database. If invalid input is entered, it's not saved. (But will look at changing those lists).

Since this user isn't using the update he requested from you at all, can we go back to what it was before? This is really not very helpful, and only puts more albums into the pending queue.

Um, I actually have been using it on a semi-regular basis... and being able to see all the albums with missing dates doesn't change the size of the queue. It's a way to more easily add dates to albums that aren't in the queue.

This is one of the metrics I monitor, and to be fair the number of albums without release dates has been going down a lot faster since the change was made (other users are also helping bring down the numbers), so I think it's worth keeping going with this (if the trend continues), with the aim at some stage of adjusting/removing the 2004 threshold.

The 'unmoderated albums' filter shouldn't include albums that haven't been flagged as needing updating, so that list (also the one that i use) shouldn't be getting cluttered with extra entries (also one of my concerns).
