I'll have to listen. How do you think it compares to Beth Gibbons & the Polish National Radio Symphony recording from last year?
It's a bit different. Much quieter beginning, and when it starts around 15 minute mark, it's louder and more epic. Instrumentally I like it a better. Lisa Gerrard's voice is the one you either love or hate, but I like it. It's vastly different than Beth Gibbons', much deeper. Also, the recording is a few minutes longer, and it contains another song, Vehadi by Master Beinsa Duno, which sounded like a bonus track, but was nice.

Edit: also I forgot to put that recording in my 2019 chart, thanks for the heads up Very Happy

Best listening a lot to the new ones by Algiers, The Innocence Mission, Bill Fay and of Montreal

There Is No Year by Algiers

Soul infused post-punk

See You Tomorrow by The Innocence Mission

Long wonderful ethereal folk duo that can sound like a cross between Vashti Bunyan and the Sundays

Countless Branches by Bill Fay

Wise old 70s singer-songwriter

Ur Fun by of Montreal

This one is of Montreal's homage to 80s synth pop.

Cool! Thanks for the info, I gave it a listen and I agree for the most part. The pianos are quieter and the fortes are louder, and this makes for a more satisfying recording in that regard. I don't know if I have a preference between Gibbons and Gerrard, I think both work fairly well with the piece.

Edit: I didn't realize Lisa Gerrard was the one involved with the soundtrack to Gladiator. Cool!
